Exciting Moves
To all of my dearest clients and friends;

To the clients I already know, thank you for all of your business and loyalty, you have made this possible.
To the people I haven't tattooed yet or maybe haven't even met yet, I look forward to working with you, and all I can say is that I will honestly do my very best.

Happy summer everyone, I have great news!

TaaaDaaaa!!
After a great three years at New Tribe I have decided to make a move. Change is good, especially for us creative kids.
As of August I will be working in a private studio. I am really looking forward to making my work a little more my style in that I get to provide an environment and experience that represents me more. I have to say how much I appreciate my time at New tribe as it gave me the opportunity to meet so many of you and build my foundation here in Toronto. With all of this in under my belt, I am ready to take it up a notch.

The details:
My studio is just north of Bloor and Lansdowne. It is really easy to get there by transit, I am one little block north of the Lansdowne subway stop. There is free street parking all over the neighborhood, including on my street.
Cash is the preferred payment method. However, if things are complicated or plastic is your best friend, you will be able to pay me via paypal.

To book appointments:

As many of you know, summer time is busy time. I will do my best to get you in a.s.a.p. but please forgive me if it takes a couple months.
For consultations or first time clients, please email me at indiaamara@gmail.com. In the subject please type consultation.
To book an appointment for an existing piece in progress, please call me at 416-723-3766 and leave a message with your name, phone number and a brief description of what we are working on and I will happily call you back to arrange a time. If you do not get a hold of me you can call my alternate booking number, routed to Mishel, at 416-627-2691 or email her at mishel.sav@ef.com.

My lovely friend Mishel has worked with me before in Vancouver at Sacred Heart and she has taken on the task of helping me out in many ways. This said, if you get a call or an email from her on my behalf don't be surprised or shy, she is the sweetest most genuine lady that I have the honor of being by my side.

Upon booking an appointment, you will receive an email or text, whichever you prefer with the details of how to get to where you are going... at least for your tattoo.

I am in the process of researching an environmental not-for-profit organization which is focused on aiding in the oceans many problems. The magnitude of the ecological damage that humans have so kindly bestowed upon the world's ocean's is something that I am not proud of. I feel very passionate about the need to contribute towards this issue in my own way. $10 from every appointment will be donated towards a yet to be determined organization. More details to follow in 'appointment confirmation' emails.....stay tuned. Any suggestions? Please share.

Here and there, but here for sure:
In addition to all of this excitement, I have more excitement to share. I will be doing a little bit of traveling this late summer/ early fall. First stop Montreal tattoo convention! www.arttattoomontreal.com
Lucky me gets to roll out there with the same mean team as last year, Kyle Hollingdrake and Mike Bailek. It is so much fun to work and hang with those two - endless laughs and good times.
I am headed westward for a wee visit and bunch of work. I am planning on a quick little stop in Alberta to finish a couple tattoos. Have a little trip of beauty and attend a wedding in the Okanagen and then work at a couple of super rad shops. I will be in Victoria at Jamer's shop, Government Street Tattoo from the 27th of September to October 3rd. www.oldetymejerrys.com. Then I'll hop on a seaplane to drop into Chad Woodley's shop Sanitary Electric www.tattoosbychad.com from the 4th of October through the 17th. If you or your friends are interested in getting tattooed in any of these exotic locations, please email me.
I'll be back in action in Toronto by the third week of October.

If you have an appointment booked with me already, I will be calling you shortly to confirm with you.

Thank you everyone, for all of your support and understanding. I have just updated my site as well, please have a peep and see what's new. www.indiaamara.com
Striving forward with fervor, determination and inspiration.
Summer, I think I love you.
So upon rereading my last entry I understand the confusion of people thinking I am leaving and going to Vancouver. Nope.

I will be visiting Vancouver and Victoria for a little visit as I am going to a wedding in the Okanagen. The opportunity to visit Steve Moore, Chad Woodley and the crew at Government street is such a sweet treat.
This summer is packed with adventure and fun tattoos already. Ia m booking into mid July right now and everyone wants fun stuff. Three cheers for my clients!!
On my way to Europe for a quick family trip and then little trips to NYC and PEI.

Hope that I see you soon, sun kissed and fresh faced.
Have a great summer.
The word of 2010 is WARRIOR
So thus far the year has been great.

I have settled in nicely to having healed skin. I got sooo many tattoos this fall and winter. My sleeve from Dave Cummings is the toughest/prettiest snake I have ever seen with some fancy roses, if I do say so myself. The tattoo I got from Kore is unlike anything else I have, deep black and gray cat, skull and rose still life styles.

Work is going well. I have had the chance to do some fun stuff, as always. Working away at getting more big projects completed and started. While the little guys keep the day to day fun times. I have also made time to do a few little paintings. You can see them in the Creations section of my site.

This is a little early notice but in September I will be making my way to the West Coast, so those of you out there, keep in mind I'll be around to do some tattoos.
The Montreal Convention is also in September, which Kyle Hollingdrake, Mike Bialek and I will team up for again.

Ok February... I see the end of you.
Release us Canadians from winter, we're done.

Attacking life with the approach of a warrior,
See you soon.
Falling for Fall
Hey everyone,

So my favourite season is upon us, Ontario turns into a wildfire of glorious colour with the leaves changing and winter creeping closer. I love Fall.

I have some exciting travel plans for the next few months. I will be visiting Montreal regularly to get my right sleeve done by the one and only Dave Cummings of PSC Tattoo. I am the most excited girl ever.

Later this month I am headed to Austin, Texas to go work at Perfection Tattoo with Chris Trevino, Bob Moreau and Carlos Traun. http://www.perfectiontattoo.co I will be there from October 20 to the 26th.

I will be making a dash to Cincinnati, Ohio in November to get tattooed by Kore Flatmo and work at his private studio, http://www.plurabella.com/. I will be tattooing there from November 11th to 16th.

All I can say is that I am more excited than I can express, to work alongside these profound tattoo artists whom inspire me so much.

If you live in one of these cities or have a friend who may want a tattoo, please contact me.

Enjoy the beauty of fall.

Full Swing.
Here we are. Busy bees of the summer.

Lots of tattoos to do and places to go. I am happily busy at the shop and have some fun tattoo adventures to come. I am getting to tattoo so many great clients with fun ideas. I am excited for soemthing every day.

In a week I am going to visit my friend Todd Noble at Black Cobra tattoo http://www.myspace.com/blackco, to do a few tattoos and try to ride a wave or two. Then in August, working the Calgary convention with Chad F. Woodley, only to find mischief and stories to tell I am sure. I am joining Noble again in L.A. tattoohollywood.com for a show down there after Calgary.
I am happy to be sharing a booth with a few of the best guys in Toronto at the Montreal tattoo convention http://www.facebook.com/home.p .

Overall a whirlwind, but if you know me, you know that's what I like. The wind blowing in my hair and a million things to do.
Warm Weather and Smooth Sailing
Summer is always busy for us tattoo kids. I am looking forward to a bunch of clients from out of town, and seeing regulars from here. Not to mention all of the randoms that walk through the door of New Tribe everyday. Such gems. I will be working hard at the shop and I will be working the Calgary Tattoo Convention http://www.calgarytattoos.com/ with Chad Woodley. That will prove to be tons of fun as always.
This is going to be the best summer yet, tattoos, conventions, bikes, sailing and summer vibes. See you soon.
Spring and tattoos are perfect for each other!
Hey everyone,

This winter has been great. Lots of tattooing and drawing but I have to say that I am very excited about the warmth of summer to come.
My schedule will be changing soon. I will be in the shop Thursday through Sunday.

I am super inspired by my recent trip to Austin, Texas. I got to meet some really amazing tattoo artists and see some great music at SXSW. Austin is a great town and I look forward to another adventure down there some time soon.
I am headed to Vancouver for the tattoo convention in a couple of weeks. It will be the weekend of April 16 - 19, http://westcoasttattooshow.com. I will be working alongside Chad Woodley, my mentor, which is exciting and sure to be a bundle of laughs for us. If you are out there or know someone out there, pass along the info.
I will also be getting tattooed out there, finishing my arm. I am looking forward to the cherry blossoms and salty air.

Hope all is well, wishin you lots of sunshine, whereever you are,

India

Focus is a fine thing
Happy New Year to all.
And a big thank you to all of my clients and friends for such a great 2008.

2009 has started off with a bang and it feels good. Everyone seems to be excited for all of the wonderful things to come.
I have decided to put school on hold in order to focus on tattooing, only being in the shop for two days is not enough for this girl. More tattoos more fun. This means I am much more available and makes it easier to get an appointment. I am at New Tribe from Wednesday through Saturday.
Nonetheless, I had a great semester in the fall and produced some interesting work, mostly installation pieces and learned a lot about art history and theory.
Over the holidays I went west to Vancouver and got tattooed myself, I have a fancy new arm which I am delighted with. Thanks to Mr. Moore.

Many new projects to come. Big goals and aspirations, as usual.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Fall is here
Hey everybody. October is here and today is absolutely glorious. Warm winds, sunshine, leaves blowing around and the sweet smell of fall embraces all.
School is going well, I can feel my brain getting juicier and my ideas becoming bigger. Work is so much fun, I have been so lucky with all of the great clients that have been coming my way with great tattoo ideas.
I went to the Montreal tattoo convention in September and got super inspired by the amazing international talent. I took a painting seminar with Shawn Barber, an amazing oil painter, you should check out if you don't know already.
All in all life is grand and I am excited for every day.

Happy Thanksgiving to all,
India
Is it August already?
This summer has been jam packed with amazing clients and fun tattoos, thunder storms, bike riding, rock and roll and French lessons. It feels like its been a whirlwind and I am still in it. School is edging closer and I have registered for fall and winter classes. I am really excited about all of the fabrication studios I will have the pleasure to get my hands dirty in. I am going to be going down to part time come September again, just a heads up. The summer is coming to a speeding halt it seems to me. Here is the update with some new photos.
Long live summer nights and still morning sunshine.
Thunder Summer
I am now full time full swing at New Tribe for the Summer. It's going to be a busy one and that's the way we like it. I have had the honour to start a few beautiful and big pieces on some clients and am kept on my toes with all of the other fun tattoos I get to do.
I just finished my intensive three week abstract painting summer course. I had tons of fun remembering what it felt like to paint. It was like a breath of fresh air. I have ambitions of painting more this summer, hopefully that will happen. My first year at OCAD was a success in every way I wanted. I will be majoring in Sculpture and Installation and minoring in Painting and Drawing.
These days I am loving riding my bike and trying to avoid all of the instantaneous thunder showers, which I also love. Drawing and drawing.

I have updated all areas of the site and plan to keep up a little better. Fingers crossed.

Enjoy the warm days.
I hope to bump into Spring while turning the corner
I picked up my bicycle from the shop today and rode around in the glorious sunshine. What a winter to move back to Toronto for. There are just a few weeks left of school for me as I am bustling around like a banshee trying to get everything done and done right. I have had so many positive experiences and feel like my brain and creative expressions have grown and developed. I am eager for more. Nose to the Grindstone and Eyes on the Prize. Working hard and loving it.

What I am really excited about is to be back in the tattoo shop full time for the summer. I can't wait to be knee deep in drawings and tattoos. Six weeks or so and I should be back in the thick of it.

I have posted some photos in a new section on the site. A few new tattoos to look at and some new artwork. More to come, always,

India
Welcome 2008
It's been a while. I have been incredibly absorbed in school and work and life. School is great, I feel like my brain is growing and that I am pushing myself in new directions, which is invigorating and refreshing. This new semester is packed with projects I already feel passionately about. Work is great, I love the crew at New Tribe and as much as I love school, I am looking forward to working a more full time schedule come the summer months. I love tattooing and miss doing it more. Life is also good, I just visited Israel over the holiday break. What an eye opener, I learned so much about a far away land that has existed in such a prominent way throughout history. The land is beautiful and moving, the people are passionate and convicted, the history and religion is strong and powerful. Back to the books, of the reading, picture and sketch kind.
September 2007
Fall is just around the corner with some leaves changing and the nights requiring sweaters. I am so very happy in Toronto. I am in school full time and loving every aspect of it. I am meeting great people and being inspired in new ways. Work at New Tribe is great, my coworkers are motivating to be around and kept busy with great clients.
I have just returned from an amazing weekend in Montreal, I visited for the tattoo convention that Pierre and Val from Tattoomania www.studiotattoomania.com host. I saw friends from afar and made new ones. I had the opportunity to assist Mo'o www.mootatau.com in tattooing Mikel www.mikel.ca. Mo'o uses traditional methods of hand poking tattooing. Mikel was assisting him all weekend and then got tattooed himself. All in all a very good time was had.
I mentioned the interview I did for CBC a few months ago and it aired today. You can watch it on the web on this link: http://www.cbc.ca/livingvancou

Enjoy the beauty of fall.

Fresh Faced in Toronto
Hello Toronto.

All new in that new old kinda way. Does that make sense? Toronto is great. It's hot. I live near the water. I love riding my bike around, being careful to mind those pesky streetcar rails. So far so good.
I am greatful to all of those in Vancouver who made it what it will always be to me... Beautiful and Inspiring. Thank you for your support and for sending me off so well.

Well, Dave has hired me at New Tribe, which is at 232 Queen St. W, http://www.newtribe.ca. I will be starting to tattoo there this week. I will begin full time classes at OCAD after Labour Day.

Updates should happen often. Check in or email me.
Thank you, India

The End of an Era
Hello everyone,

This Sunday, July 29th is my last day working at Sacred Heart Tattoo on Davie. I am currently looking for a new position in Toronto. I move east the first week of August and come September will be a full time student at OCAD and part time tattooer.

Leaving Vancouver will be the hardest thing I have ever done for so many reasons. However, that only makes me all the more determined.
I thank everyone for the constant support.

Please keep in touch,

India
Summer Update
The trip out east was amazing. A roller coaster of an adventure. Working at Jerry's shop was an eye opener and I got to do a bunch of fun old school tattoos. New York is now one of my favourites and I will return there many times I am sure.

Currently I am back at work at Sacred Heart but only for the next two months. As of August I will be a resident of Toronto. I will be tattooing there and also attending art school at OCAD. It is time for a change and a chance to grow. Vancouver is home and I will definately miss it and all that is here.

Wishing you all summer bliss and sunshine kisses.
Hope to see you,
India

Here I am
Thank you for checking out the new site.
I appreciate any comments or critique, as this is my attempt at a website.

Tattooing is going very well. I am busy and have a fantastic clientelle that keep coming back. It is thanks to them that this is all possible.

I have recently had a small interview in Mini Intrnational, a magazine put out by Mini (yes, the car). I am featured as one of six "Up and Coming Under 30" business people. http://www.mini.com/com/en/min

This week I tattooed a lovely woman, Jenn with her daughter's name on her arm, for a segment a show on CBC called Living Vancouver. I was interviewed to show people that coming in to a tattoo shop is not intimidating and can be quite similar to visiting a salon style of business. The show should air in September 2007, you can check the site for specific dates. www.cbc.ca/livingvancouver

I will be travelling for three weeks at the end of April. I am going to work at Sailor Jerry Swallow's shop in New Glasgow NS. After that a short visit in Ontario to see family and friends and then off to NYC to see art, tattoo shops and everything else there is.

Happy spring days to all, enjoy the blossoms!
