Hi, I'm India Amara Nicholls. I am an intentional and ceremonial tattoo artist. I help people find their clearest self expression, reveal personal coherence and translate their tattoo desires into reality.
With many years & many miles of experience, I offer honest and encouraging support; I help people reveal, clarify and refine their tattoo ideas, so that we can make something gorgeous, timeless, and authentic. I craft tattoos that are elegant; in flow with the body. I make tattoos with longevity and clarity in mind; technically sound and steady, that will stand the test of time. I know that tattoos are monumental, life changing in fact; I make them with that in mind and heart.
MEET ME
DEEPER
a peek into my past
I learned how to tattoo in Vancouver in the early 2000s. A couple of solid men took a big chance on me; I had to earn my way into a (at that point) predominantly male industry which was still a little rough and pretty fringe.
One of the conditions in learning to tattoo was that I had to get tattooed: a lot. I myself quickly became heavily tattooed; I dove in the deep end, I got very large work as soon as I could. As I got tattooed I had the opportunity to learn more; I got to ask questions & watch how it all works. I immersed myself in and committed to tattooing, I wanted more and it has given me everything,
Through my career I traveled far and wide to work alongside living legends and get tattooed by masters. My path has been powerfully informed by travel, the evolution of my spiritual practice and Nature; my true love. .
I am based in Toronto, I have worked at Under My Thumb Tattoo since 2017. I cherish Toronto, it is such a special city, rich in ways of culture, art, and celebrating differences. Here, I get to make tattoos for beautiful, inspiring and brilliant people. Every single person I encounter carries gold in their core; wisdom from the experience of having a human heart.
I am grateful to offer you this work.
I find myself in awe at the intricate & intelligent ways that life has led me to this moment.
