My middle name is Rose, and my grandfather's favourite roses were peace roses, so those are included. There's also a butterfly storyline that starts as a caterpillar, a chrysalis, and then the butterfly on my chest. 

The experience of getting tattooed by India is very mindful and intentional. I really appreciate India's interest in creating a degree of ritual around the tattoo process, it feels deliciously holistic to me. It is a process of coming more into ourselves. I would say it felt like there was something waiting to be tattooed on me, that would be aligned with me. 

"I lost a friend of mine and inherited his houseplants, some of those flowers I got tattooed on me."
